batik
Batik is a wax resist dying technique. Wax is applied to fabric and then dyed. The areas with wax "resist" the dye while the rest of the fabric takes the dye creating a reverse pattern. The wax is then removed. This technique can be repeated to create some very intricate patterns. The hand painted nature of this technique results in wonderfully one-of-a-kind textiles. SHOP BATIK

conversational
Conversationals, typically prints, are patterns that are literally thought to "start a conversation" due to their recognizable images. Think elephants, hot air balloons, or beach umbrellas. We love conversationals because they are fun, expressive, and mix well with more abstract patterns. SHOP CONVERSATIONALS

damask
Traditionally damask is a woven interlocking pattern that, due to the way it is woven, can be viewed on both sides. We interpret damask as a celebration of these traditional ornate patterns but in a looser way and as a print i.e. curvy hand drawn blooms or happy hugging peacocks. SHOP DAMASK

engineered stripe
A stripe that is not "all-over" but is placed in a specific way on a product or material. Often a sporty detail. SHOP ENGINEERED STRIPES

Hmong
When we use the term Hmong, we are referring to patterns and techniques originating from the Hmong people from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos. The Hmong people have hand crafted bold geometric patterns using batik and embroidery techniques in colorful dyes for generations. SHOP HMONG

Mud cloth, or bogolan, is a traditional West African handmade textile where handwoven cotton strips are then stitched together to make a larger textile.
